Why I'm Running

Meet Candidate

Introduce yourself and why you're running

Rooted in our community and dedicated to serving its people…

Meet Scott Williams, a lifelong public servant, retired Newport News Police lieutenant, and small business owner running to represent Virginia’s 69th House of Delegates District. He brings decades of experience, integrity, and a commitment to putting people first.

A father with deep roots in York County, Scott graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and began his public service career as a York County auxiliary deputy. He later joined the Newport News Police Department, where he served as a police officer and detective before rising to the rank of lieutenant. He also served as chief of police at Hampden-Sydney College.

Scott’s leadership extends beyond the departments he served. He was president of his local Fraternal Order of Police lodge, served as a state FOP vice president, and completed Boston University’s Strategic Management Institute for Police in 2014.

Throughout his law enforcement career, Scott helped people navigate some of their most difficult moments. Today, as the owner of Williams Public Safety Solutions, he provides private investigations, background investigations, and situational awareness training to help individuals and businesses make informed decisions and stay safe.

Scott is running for Virginia’s 69th House District to bring his record of service, practical leadership, and commitment to the community to the House of Delegates.   Above all, Scott is committed to putting people above politics, working across differences to deliver practical solutions for the communities he serves.
